Little Leaves

I’m on holiday for a few days now and am going back to Germany to see my family which I’m so looking forward to. It’s been almost two years the last time I went. Altthough I try to go at least ones a year it was never my intention to have left it that long.

The weather has been beautifully warm recently. Small leaves are coming through and growing bigger each day. It’s been such a long winter and I’ve missed the warmth and the fresh scents of flowers that it brings with it. I love going outside and although I usually don’t mind the cold it’s always so much easier and nicer to go out when it’s warm. Leaving the back door open to the garden just feels heavenly. There is something about going outside and it always sparks off an indescribable urge of wanting to do new things in me. Usually and annoyingly it’s always a thousand things at once. I want to do more painting and drawing, I want to do some pottery again, sewing my own clothes, going out to arts and antiques markets to look for lovely things, baking and of course loads more flower arranging. It overwhelms me and I wished I could hold all these inspirations back and tell them to come one by one at the right time, so I don’t end up sitting in front of the tv instead. On the other hand I like the buzzing feeling of it, but often it’s just the thought and the next thing I know is that I struggle to come up with what exactly I want to draw or bake. Maybe I’m not quite ready, and the right inspiration for the right thing will come at the right time, I’m sure. However, I did have some time to do what comes the easiest to me – flower arranging. My plan is to do much more of it this year, doing lots of experimenting with new flowers and in particular colour palettes and textures.

Flowers

The first peonies, currant, astrantia, fritillaria, lilac, tulips, ranunculus, hellebores and narcissi.
