Holland

The last few weeks have flown by so fast.

We went to Germany at the beginning of August to my family, followed by a few days in Holland smelling the water, feeling the sun and seeing the most beautiful hydrangeas growing in every garden.

We did a boat trip to Amsterdam which to me was probably the highlight. I was amazed seeing a busy moving city that was so green and open. Quirky houses that looked so different and were so full of character in their own way. I loved being able to look through some of the windows and seeing beautiful interiors and flowers on the windowsills. It made me think of something I always fantasised about when I was little. I’d be sitting with my parents in the car driving somewhere and I imagined how I would split myself into hundreds of little pieces and then sneak into each person’s house that we were passing, just to see what it looked like from the inside, how people had made their houses to their home.

Although I’ve never found a way how I could successfully and without doing any harm to myself do that, I am now doing something similar in a different way for a different purpose. When we got back from holiday we decided it was time to sell our small terraced victorian house to buy something that would give us a bit more living and working space. It’s a frustrating and stressful task as money determines that we always have to make a compromise, whether it’s a busy road, a tiny garden, or small rooms. So we’re still looking…
